Frequently Asked Questions
This page is dedicated to some of our most common questions. If you don't find the question you have in mind on the page feel free to email us, and we will answer it.
How Many Lights Do You Have?
We have roughly 15,000 lights on hand.
Where Do You Store Everything?
The majority of the display is stored in our garage's attic, and a few items are stored in the basement. Alot of the items will collapse or come apart and not take up much space.
How Long Does It Take To Setup?
Setting up is just a portion of preparing the display. We are constantly looking for new items to be placed in our display. Usually in July or August we will start planning our display out on paper. And we will work on any new projects or do maintenance to any of the items. Then the weekend after Halloween, we will start putting lights up in the trees and bushes. Then, usually the next weekend we will outline the house in lights. And the week before Thanksgiving we begin the setup on the ground. But it all depends on the weather.
How Do You Broadcast Your Music?
We use a low powered radio transmitter, that broadcast our station on 107.5fm. To comply with the FCC Regulations it only ranges about 100ft.
How Do You Power Everything?
We use 4 dedicated 20amp circuits, with outlets placed around the outside of the house. We are not sure exactly how many extension cords we use. But we have one and a half garbage cans full of the cords.
How Are The Lights Synchronized To Music?
Computer software sends the music out through a radio FM transmitter, and lighting commands are sent out into the yard to the Light-O-Rama interface board. Each song is personally programmed for our display, and it takes hours of sequencing for each song.
